This is a perl mail merge script  which reads in data from a file and outputs into an MS Word Document.

Modus Operandus

Notes - There are 3 files in the demo - test2.htm,worddoctemplate.pl and xtest.doc

       1- configure the pl script.

       2- Configure the following section in the html doc to suit your url window.open("http://purpleflash.netfirms.com/data/xtestnew2.doc", "",
"scrollbars=no,resizeable=no,width=400,height=460");

       3- Customise the Word Document xtest.doc - I would recommend starting off simply by editing this in Notepad - name as a word Document.

To change the file association for .doc extensions, open Windows Explorer - Menu Option View / Folder Options. In Windows 98 select File Types  - next select edit (see right) for file types of .doc extension  and edit  the open option and change to Wordpad - see below
